Training Day Thirteen – Short and Sweet

DSC_0895Only two miles on the agenda for yesterday. However, I was feeling decent and wanted to push it a bit. I managed two miles in 17.5 minutes by really pushing myself which is easy to do on such a short run.

I honestly can’t believe that two miles feels so short. My very first two miles seemed eternal. I wonder what it feels like to have that same perspective with regard to half marathons?

Anyone feel that way about a half or perhaps a 10k?

After turning 30 , now 36, he began to wonder how long he could remain glued to a computer screen before he would need to make drastic changes in his personal habits. Long hours and energy drinks just don't cut the mustard at age 36. Hence the shift in focus and much needed fitness routine.

  1. Hey Robert,
Strangely, a 10K is tough from start to finish for me. 6.1 is fine for a regular run, but at race pace, it’s an internal pep talk the whole way. It’s not a real short race, but not long enough to ease into a slower pace. Something about race day pushes me, so on Thanksgiving I tried my first 10K – finished in 51:40 and surprised myself (and beat my 13 year old son… I’ll take my victory because it won’t be long until he leaves me in the dust ;)
    Keep running!
