Training Day Twelve – Mind Your Business

Caught!Yesterday was another long run and it seems that lightening the load on my runs, adding a little ibuprofen and some new stretching techniques has alleviated the knee pain (no squeaky knees) .

I ran 5 miles and it took about 49 minutes, not my personal best, which was slower than I hoped for. However, given my recent challenges with knee pain I was happy to just get it done.

Snooping Neighbors

I did notice that my neighbor, a younger fellow, kept looking over at me during my run. Mostly when I was having my occasional heavy breathing moments. I couldn’t tell if it was coincidence or if I was actually bothering him some how but it bothers me that I might be bothering someone else.

Can I help it if I push myself and breath heavy? Not really. Well, I could but then I wouldn’t be working out. I would be taking a stroll in the park and looking at the trees. Another thought had occurred to me, was he looking at my time and distance? I suppose that’s possible but he was cruising at 8 mph (fast!) and not breaking a sweat.

Was he gloating internally? Bastard! Whatever the case, I need to ignore these treadmill neighbors and get on with my training but I am struggling with all these unnecessary but bothersome thoughts. Ahhhh!  I need a class on gym etiquette and perhaps therapy.
